Dear Parents and Coaches,
Thank you for participating in our Youth Flag Football Combine! We appreciate your support in helping our athletes showcase their skills and gain a better understanding of their performance. Below is an overview of the combine stations and how players were evaluated.
Combine Overview
The Youth Flag Football Combine was designed to evaluate players in several key areas of the game. The combine included four stations that measured different skills:
- 40-Yard Dash (Speed & Acceleration): Players ran the 40-yard dash and their fastest time was recorded. This test measures overall speed and acceleration.
- Throwing Distance (Arm Strength): Players threw the football as far as possible across three attempts. The longest throw was recorded to measure arm strength and distance.
- Route Running & Catching (Technique & Hands): Players were evaluated on their ability to run routes and catch passes. Points were awarded for sharp route execution and successful catches.
- Throwing Accuracy (Precision & Control): Players had five attempts to throw the ball at a target. Points were awarded for throws that landed in the designated target area.
Data Collected
For each player, we recorded:
- Best 40-yard dash time
- Longest throwing distance (out of three attempts)
- Route running and catching points
- Throwing accuracy points (out of five attempts)
Player Ratings
Each player received a rating from 1 to 5 in each category based on their performance within their division.
- 40-Yard Dash Rating
- Throwing Distance Rating
- Route Running & Catching Rating
- Throwing Accuracy Rating
These four ratings were combined to create a Total Score, with a maximum possible score of 20 points.
Total Score Rating Scale
5 – Elite: 16+ points
4 – Advanced: 13–15 points
3 – Intermediate: 10–12 points
2 – Beginner: 6–9 points

Example
If a player received:
- 5 points – 40-Yard Dash
- 4 points – Throwing Distance
- 3 points – Route Running & Catching
- 2 points – Throwing Accuracy
Their total score would be 14, which falls into the Advanced (4/5) category.
Next Steps
These ratings are intended to help players and families understand their current skill levels and identify areas for improvement. They also serve as a benchmark for future combines so athletes can track their progress over time.
If you have any questions about the combine results or evaluation process, please feel free to reach out. We are excited to continue helping our athletes develop their skills and grow in the game.
Thank you again for your support, and we look forward to seeing everyone on the field!
Disclaimer
Please note that these ratings and combine exercises are not intended to predict how a player will perform during the season. The purpose of the combine is to help us better understand each athlete’s current abilities so we can create balanced teams and provide a positive playing experience for everyone.
Every player develops at their own pace. A lower score simply means there are skills that can continue to be developed, and our coaches are committed to supporting each athlete along the way. Our goal is to create an environment where every player can grow, improve, and most importantly, have fun.
